Associate Architect
Position Overview: The associate architect assists as the lead architect on designated projects. He/She assists in the development and management of all projects of the firm, including project scheduling and coordination, as well as direct communication with clients. He/She is responsible for development of scope of service agreements and fee structuring for projects with principal approval. He/She is also responsible for generating, coordinating and delegating the drafting and production of construction documents as well as specifications. He/She must have strong management skills in project oversight, mentoring teams, as well as the leadership skills to guide project success. This position requires strong team and service-oriented skills, attention to detail, architect software capabilities, professional communication skills, and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and teams.
Job Responsibilities: The following activities are believed to be important.
- Serve as the lead architect on designated projects, assisting with proposal creation, design of projects, and cost estimating
- Develop scope of service and fees agreements for projects for review by the principals.
- Develop and oversee project scheduling, as well as coordination with consultants
- Engage in professional and direct communication with clients
- Assist with portfolio creation and maintenance, specification writing, graphics and marketing, site visitation and documentation of existing facilities, and drafting.
- Review code and zoning laws, as well as CAD standards to ensure compliance
- Assist in symbols and detail library development and maintenance
- Contribute to continual development and improvement of templates, construction documents and instruments of service
- Prepare field observations, meeting minutes and memos
- Assist with photography of projects and color selection of projects
- Serve as liaison with the drafting department, working collaboratively to delegate and coordinate project work
- Work collaboratively with all staff and departments and serve as a mentor to junior staff
- Assist in the interviewing of new staff, including the preparation of interview materials
- Ensure timely review of pay applications
- Work well and respect the individual roles at all levels and consistently contribute to a positive work environment
- Show good judgement, professionalism and maturity with regard to customer interactions
- Participate in additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal architect and partner
- Minimum Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience full-time paid experience as a licensed architect.
- Minimum Education: Must be a licensed architect
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Proficient in REVIT and MS Office Suite, must have experience with activity tracking/management tools, and strong marketing and graphic design skills. Must be self-directed, service-oriented, detail-oriented, customer-centered, energetic, organized, accurate, flexible, able to adapt to changing situations and different personalities, manage multiple projects, coordinate project team members, and proficient in written/verbal communication skills.
Architect in Training/Draftsperson
Position Overview: The Architect in Training (AIT) assists the lead architect on designated projects and must be a full-time intern architect with 4 or more years of experience and be on the path to becoming a licensed architect. He/She assists in the development and management of all projects of the firm, including project scheduling and coordination, as well as direct communication with clients. He/She is responsible for the development and generation of construction documents and design projects, as well as field observation and site visits. He/She is also responsible for assisting with proposals and portfolios, graphics and marketing, and specification writing. He/She must have strong work skills in REVIT, organizational and time management and general drafting. He/She should also be adept at scheduling and coordination and possess the leadership skills to mentor junior staff. This position requires strong team and service-oriented skills, attention to detail, architect software proficiency, professional communication skills, and organizational skills for managing multiple projects and teams.
